The Importance of IBDP Chemistry

The Structure of IBDP Chemistry
At the DP stage, students study Chemistry at one of two levels:
- Standard Level (SL)
- Higher Level (HL)
Assessment Breakdown
At both SL and HL, students are assessed through:
- Internal Assessment (IA): 20%
- External Assessment (EA): 80%
The Internal Assessment requires students to complete an individual investigation, while the External Assessment consists of three examination papers of varying difficulty, testing knowledge, application, and analytical skills.
What Students Do in IBDP Chemistry
IBDP Chemistry emphasizes experimentation and inquiry.
1. Laboratory Investigation
Students learn to:
- Design and conduct experiments
- Analyze and interpret chemical data

2. Conceptual Understanding & Application
