Structure of IGCSE Mathematics
IB Pathways IGCSE Mathematics offers two levels based on student ability and academic goals: Core and Extended.
Papers to Be Taken
Core Candidates are required to appear for:
Paper 1 – Short-answer questions
Paper 3 – Structured questions
Extended Candidates are required to appear for:
Paper 2 – Short-answer questions
Paper 4 – Structured questions
The Extended curriculum covers a broader range of topics compared to the Core curriculum. Students are permitted to use a scientific calculator in all examination papers.
The Grading Rules
Key points related to IB Pathways IGCSE grading:
- Grades range from A (highest) to G (lowest)
- Students who do not meet the minimum standard for Grade G are reported as Ungraded
- Core candidates can achieve grades from G to C only
- Extended candidates can achieve grades from A to C
- Students aiming for top grades are advised to choose the Extended curriculum
