AS & A Level Economics

AS & A Level Economics helps learners understand how to organize, present, and communicate ideas and judgments clearly, while also developing the ability to explain and analyze economic issues and arguments.

The curriculum provides a broad understanding of the price system and government intervention, international trade and exchange rates, employment and inflation, and the causes and effects of inflation. Students also study macroeconomic theory and policy, business behavior, market failure, and economic growth and development.

Importance of AS & A Level Economics

AS & A Level Economics is widely recognized by universities and employers as strong evidence of academic ability and analytical thinking. Studying Economics at this level offers several important benefits:

Understanding Scarcity and Choice

Because resources are limited and human wants are unlimited, choices must always be made. AS & A Level Economics helps learners understand the relationship between scarcity, opportunity cost, and decision-making.

Using Economic Data

Students learn how to identify reliable sources of economic data and apply appropriate methods to interpret and analyze it effectively.

Understanding Decision-Making Models

Learners develop an understanding of how individuals, firms, and governments make decisions at the margin and how these choices affect markets and economies.

Development of Advanced Skills

Through AS & A Level Economics, students build strong analytical, communication, information-processing, and critical thinking skills. They also learn how to evaluate economic policies and recognize the challenges involved in implementing them.
